MYSTERY HIKE

A lovely lonely hike with no humans in sight and a momentous morning for KG.

UPPER BLUEBELL

Notes: Picked our way to the ridge above Bluebell. At one point a bike trail frequented by the Gs. Mountain swampiness and many fallen trees to navigate.

BLACK STUMPS

Notes: Towering pines, black wet earth, thorny underbrush and fluttering aspen. The morning after a heavy rain everyone returned covered in mud. From the end of the pavement 5.8 miles. The back way into GBEEC if you head left at the fork.

COYOTE GULCH

This is an old trip that never made it onto the blog, but I was perusing old files and found the images. Kim took the photos.  This was the last trip I did with Virg.  I believe this was spring of 2015.  We had a couple days of rain.  Colder temps at night and then things warmed up a little in the day as long as you kept moving.  They say the Gulch as a fairly straight shot in and out, but if I hadn't been with people who had done it before I'm fairly sure I would have missed the one of the legs and not noticed until I was 10 miles or so off.  Met up with Joe & Hillary and crowd half way through. A stunning place.  I'd like to do it again with a little more time.
